Okay, okay, you nosey nellies. If you really must know, NO I am not showering today. Our pilot light is broken so that means no hot water for the Fahdens.
This weekend Jack and I are heading up north to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary! We’re loading up our snowshoes, our DVD collection (including my Felicity box set) and the pups for three days of maxin’ and relaxin’. I can’t wait to sleep 10 hours (okay, 12) a night, make good food and romp in the snow with Fern and Rosy. I am also actually looking forward to not having cable or internets as Jack’s parents shut that shit down while they winter in AZ.
While my rule right now is to only buy spring/summer clothes, if I were to drop some coin on winter weekend wear, below are my picks. I may have to break the rules and purchase these bloomers though, holy shit they’re cute.
1) bobble hat 2) knit mittens 3) double-layer pants 4) wolf jumper 5) fair isle slippers 6) polkadot britches
One part of my jobbie job (and a wonderful jobbie job it is) is perusing the internets for inspiring fashion photography. This photography, along with upcoming trends, consumer insights and other mumbo jumbo helps inspire concepts for the apparel + accessories signing you see on your weekly trip to Target! I should really round up some of the werk we’ve shot over the past couple of years and share it with you pumpkins as I am quite proud of it.
Anyhoo, as I was trolling the world wide web in search of pretty pictures, these images shot by Siren Lauvdal stopped me in my tracks. It is always refreshing to see something this interruptive but SO simple. By simply throwing them pretty models on the floor and changing the camera angle, suddenly you have a super intriguing composition that makes you wanna stare and stare some more.
That’s all I’ve got for you today. Now that I’m back from NYC, I’ll get into my blogging routine again. Toodles!

Word up, my little chunky monkies! This morning I’m coming at you live from NYC where I’ve been since Friday. This means I did not have to lay around in a pile with our (very dear) friends wearing socks and eating Cool Ranch Doritos while watching that God-awful thing called the Superbowl. No, instead I spent the night in my hotel room watching Kim and Kourtney take Miami while archiving emails until I got my Gmail inbox down to ZERO messages!
Given that I am in the middle of a 12 day work week (we shot all weekend), every so often I’ve gots to close my eyes and take a little mental vacay. This vacay involves a beach where I allow myself to get a good ol’ fashion suntan, freckles and all. It involves Jack, Fern and Rosy (don’t worry, they passed as humans in their hawaiian shirts and cargo shorts and were able to fly down with us). It also includes these cute duds to bop around in. And by “bop around” I mean lay like a beached whale while Jack feeds me guacamole and Fern and Rosy bring me margaritas.
Enjoy this summa-time mix and have yerselves a good Monday.
1) embroidered silk dress 2) shell picker bikini 3) pony watch 4) folding ray-ban wayfarers 5) aztec shoes 6) dhurrie messenger
My heart is a flutter this morning for three reasons:
1) My mom arrives today to celebrate my birth! So we have four fun-filled days ahead.
2) I was looking at my blog reader stats and someone in Sandwich, Massachusetts read my blog. SANDWICH! I can’t believe there is a town called Sandwich and I am just finding out about it now. For those who didn’t know this about me, I like eating sandwiches.
3) Lauren Moffatt’s SS13 Collection is out! I am going bonkers!
So here is the deal with Lauren Moffatt. I have been obsessed with her clothes (and her home) for a long time. After coveting some of her Fall duds last year, I came to find out that my friend (and favorite photographer to work with) Daymion Mardel is FRIENDS WITH LAUREN AND SHOOTS ALL OF HER LOOKBOOKS! I am sure this excites none of you as much as it does me that I made this connection, but I am hoping that her new collection will. I put together my favorite summa-time looks below. As much as I love winter, I sure wouldn’t mind bopping around Lake Minnetonka in that chambray jumpsuit right about now.

I often get stopped on the street by Color Me Carla fans dying to know what I keep on my nightstand. This is, of course, after they ask for my autograph and a photo. They usually want to know all of the nitty gritty details…What makes a perfect nightstand? What’s the best catchall to put your jewelry in at the end of the day? What book are you reading right now? Do you keep fresh cut flowers next to your bed and if so how often do you change them? Ahhh, I kid, of course. People that stop me on the street actually want to know much more important things like how they can contribute to my decorating fund.
It’s been a while since I did a good ol’ fashion moodboard and after spotting this posh nightstand on Pinterest last night, I decided to do a little ditty on bedside beauts. Our current nightstands are embarrassing. They are WAY too low, have coffee stains all over them and Jack’s is basically covered with random ticket stubs and receipts. Eventually the plan is to wallpaper our bedroom with these horsies, install the wall lighting we already bought and then purchase and style some new nightstands. In the meantime I will covet these precious pretties below (sans Diane’s book which I’m currently reading).
1) chelsea wall sconce 2) woodland round buck tray 3) random flowers 4) skull 5) ritz alarm clock 6) visionaire book 7) then again 8) green moss candle
Dang it, I had meant to do this post on Friday and I totally spaced. I was going to be all clever and call it “Frye Day”.
I am not like most gals when it comes to shoes. I don’t have a massive collection of designer pumps and, if given the option, I’d rather spend that kind of money on wooly sweaters. When it comes to shoes, I prefer investing in a couple of timeless classics that I know will last me a couple of years (I sound like a grandpa) and will go with just about anything in my closet.
This is why I covet just about every pair of kicks that The Frye Company makes. I wear my Erin Oxfords at least 4 days a week and they never let me down. Below are some of my other Frye faves that I’d like to get on my tootsies some day.
1) alex tassel moc 2) erin oxford 3) melissa perf bootie 4) dalia penny 5) erin woven oxford 6) regina ballet
Ummm… okay, this is kind of the cutest thing I have ever seen (except Fern and Rosy staring at me in sheer terror Monday night as I ran on the treadmill for the first time in over two years).
Lazy Animals is a little shop based out of Israel that makes these adorable teeny tiny hand felted finger puppets. I would say that these would make a perfect gift for the wee ones in your life but based on my gift-giving experience with my five year old niece and three year old nephew, they would much rather get a $5 Spiderman toy or a gaudy Monster High doll (have you seen those slutty chicks!?) over something crafty and handmade.
But you know who these would make a good gift for? Um, ME. I would use them to wake Jack up in the morning, I would use them for story hour with Fern and Rosy and I’d definitely kick back on the sofa and watch The Bachelor with them.
I hope you have a rip roaring time this weekend and I’ll catch ya back here on Monday.

Good morning, poptarts.
I found this cute shop on Etsy, Rue Des Louves, that wheels and deals all sorts of adorable french vintage pieces. Our last kitchen was SO teeny tiny that we did not have very much room for extra dishes and serving bowls. Now that our kitchen is much bigger and we have the room to store things (and entertain), we are in major need of serving dishes, cute dessert plates and special coffee cups.
Now don’t worry, I’m not suddenly turning all country kitchen on your ass or anything. But given the style of our house (100 year old farm house), it makes sense to mix in some vintage classics amongst the newer, shinier things.
When we were visiting my parents in Northern ‘Sconie over Christmas, I scored some canisters very similar to the ones below. I’m probably not gonna be dropping 30 bones to have this kind of thing shipped overseas, but will be on the lookout for similar stuff when I’m scouring local vintage shops.
Sniff ya later.

One of my favorite things to do is scroll through street style blogs on my iPad before beddy bye. I remember once reading an interview with Sarah Jessica Parker (yes Jack, we know, she looks like a horse) where she was asked about her style inspiration. She said she is equally inspired by women on the streets of NYC as she is by fashion mags. I agree with SJP. One of the many things I love about going to Manhattan is getting inspired by all of the stylish bitches on the street, hiding behind their Wayfarers and hustling to whatever cool happening they gotta get to.
And when I’m not in NYC, there are plenty of gorgeous images all over the internets to gawk at. Check out these stylish chicas below and to see more, check out my Style board.
I am loving these images from molo’s SS13 lookbook. The prints are fresh, the styling is perfecto and I love the cool kid vibe. It is always refreshing to see fun yet sophisticated kids fashion and molo kills it if you ask me.
