I am loving this home of Camille Styles (who do you have to pay to get a name like that, anyway?) My noontime ritual is to eat my turkey + cheddar sammy while pouring over my favorite blogs. Since my days are so busy, I usually go reeeeal fast and just look for images that grab me. When I saw this post on Design*Sponge yesterday it was an unexpected breath of fresh air. I just had to stop and look at every perfectly styled picture and read all of the text.
With our next home having nice high ceilings and lots-o-natural light, I am hoping one day it will feel as peaceful, cozy, elegant and comfy as this home.
Hey, have you guys ever tried one of those egg beater head rubbing thingys? Jack got me one as a gift and now I make him scramble my hair/head every night. Let me tell ya, it makes for some prettaaaay sexy hair in the morning (if you’re into the whole frizzy/steel wool/bird’s nest type look).
I love mixing colors, patterns, textures and shapes in unexpected ways. This mix of classy stuff below doesn't seem like it would go together but ya know something? IT DOES!
Some people would be a nervous pervous about mixing a tangerine pillow and a yellow rug and a girly floral chair, BUT NOT ME! I just drag that shit into Photoshop and mix it all up like it's nobody's business. Cuz, yeah. That's just how I roll.
Yo gabba gabba. Today we are taking a break from interior design (just this one post, I promise) so I can share another one of my obsessions with you – my scrappy, imperfect quirky little drarings! I have always loved illustrating people and type and working with color and textures. I finally got my rump in gear and started an Etsy shop to sell custom wedding invites, save the dates, holiday cards, birth announcements, etc. Take a peek and then tell all your engaged friends how awesome they are!
Tomorrow we will be back to the joys of throw pillows, I promise. Happy Mon Mon!
Alright, listen up and listen good. I want your full attention now so put down your Friday morning coffee and muffin. Let's FOCUS, people.
There is gonna come a day when I am reeeeally really rich. This blog is gonna take off and I'm gonna have the likes of Oprah and Donald Trump wanting to sponsor me. I will spend my mornings perched in a posh leather swivel chair blogging for all you pretties (while my staff works on my hair and makeup). Then I will feast on a breakfast of cheese curds (but I'm gonna have a personal chef that knows how to make them so they're packed with nutrients even though they taste like the greasy kind from Mogies in Eau Claire, WI). THEN, I will hop in my Mercedes G55 with Fern and Rosy (who will be decked out in really cute outfits like striped sweaters and little doggie moccasins). And then you know where we're gonna go?
o buy a painting as bold and beautiful as the one below. And when that day comes, I'll invite you all over and we'll sip cucumber vodka and laugh about the old days when I used to frame artwork that I printed off Google Images and ripped out of old calendars.
Okay, that's all. Now go have yourself a good weekend!
Good morning party people. Today we are here to talk about things that make-ah me jolly.
1. Watching Fern and Rosy romp in the back yard while I work on my blog.
2. Eating sausage + mushroom pizza from Whole Foods while watching Rachel Zoe reruns in my big purple sweatshirt.
3. Daydreaming about moving into our new house next month and decorating the crap outta it!!!
4. Cruisin' around Minnie in Tootsie (my '87 woody Jeep) while listening to the crackling old-ass radio.
5. This posh mix of pillows and such!
Good grief. I had one too many Sapporos last night (that means two total), let me tell ya. So that means today is one of those days I yelled some profanity in between hitting the snooze button. But alas I have a 7am work meeting so I need to suck it up and get my tush in gear. While in the shower all I could think of was being snuggled into this oh-so-cozy bedroom on a rainy Saturday. The flannel, the chandelier, the large art and the girly wallpaper makes it look so lived-in and comfy. I have had this image saved for a long
Hooray! Today is our three year wedding anniversary! AND we got a pretty snowfall last night just like the night before our wedding! Okay, enough with the exclamation points!
I am one lucky broad, I tell ya. Jack is the best hubby in so many ways. He is kind, honest, funny, sensitive and romantic (don't let his friends hear that) and to top it off he has a beard. I can't believe three years have gone by since our wonderful winter wedding (to check out pics of said wedding, click here).
Here are some goodies I picked out that I know Jack would love. He definitely has great taste and an eye for beautiful things (I mean, have you seen me? KIDDING). Happy anniversary to my bestie!
I am happy as a clam to be back in Minnie. While my time away was sunny and fun, every time I return home from traveling I realize how much I really-truly-totally-obsessively love Minnesota and the Midwest.
What I DON'T love is this piece of crap winter we have had. I am sick of brown grass and 40 degree ho-hum days. I want a big-ass blizzard and I want it now, damn it. The fact that it's almost spring and I haven't gotten to play with our pups out in the snow makes me blue. Speaking of blue, here are some blue-ish interiors. (How's that for a half-ass segway?)
I have been on a mad hunt for lighting lately. Every single sconce, flush mount and pendant in our new house is comin' out. They're all big box cheapies that add absolutely zero to the space. After exhausting all of my usual sources, I asked my friend Quinn if she had any suggestions. She also just bought a new pad so she's in the same boat.
Well leave it to Quinn and her impeccable taste to recommend a killer website I had never heard of. I'm talking about Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co, bitches! Man oh man, I am in LOVE with their lighting options. AND they have lots of fun furniture and accessories. Everything is so simple, understated and has a throwbac
Speaking of cats, this little island I'm on for the next couple days has cute little stray kitties that pop out here and there. There was an especially adorable little calico lingering outside my hotel room when I arrived. I had to do everything in my power to stop myself from scooping it up and bringing him into my room for the night. K. That was random. So anyway, here are some faves from Schoolhouse:
Well aren't I the little jet-setter these days. After two nights in Miami, I am off too… drumroll…. Curacao! Never heard of it? Yeah, me neith. It's a teeny tiny beautiful little island in the Caribbean, technically part of the Netherlands. This will be our last stop as we wrap up our photoshoot for Target. Sooo… yeah. That's kind of awesome.
Now that I've been out of cold-brown-grass-land for a couple days, I've been gravitating toward brighter, cheery-er, fun-er home shtuff on the internets. Here's a bright little doo-wop inspired by the sun and sand.
