In ecstatic news, Jack and I finally get to welcome baby Rosy into our home next Saturday! That’s right, our current goldendoodle, Miss Fern, is going to be a big sista! Rosy comes from the same breeder and is Fern’s biological sissie, which means we’re expecting her to be just as sweet and silly.
So of course this begs the question: How will we decorate Rosy’s room!? Okay, maybe she isn’t getting a WHOLE room. But let’s say she was. And let’s say I had $500+ to spend on it. Below are the goodies I would deck it out with.
(1) “Woof” Treat Jar, (2) Thomas Paul Indigo Octopus Throw, (3) Double Loops Fist Tug & Toss Rope Toy, (4) Hoot & Screech Owl, (5) Bed Cover, (6) White Compinibili Storage Units by Kartell, (7) Martha Stewart Pets Dog Bowl
Happy Sunday! I’m excited to share Etsy’s article that features Color Me Carla and our home. I wanted to return the favor and tout just a few of the many great finds you can score on their site. With the gift giving season upon us, this is the perfect source for one-of-a-kind, personal gifts that will tickle your loved ones pink. Plus, you don’t even have to get off your bum to buy them, except to retrieve the package from your front step.
Below are some rustic and neutral goodies I rounded up. I wonder what lives inside the “mystery bucket”… probably something furry and animated, I’d guess.
Vintage Industrial Hanging Light,Custom Zig Zag Throw Pillow,Vintage Metal Stool,West German White Onion Vase,Mystery Bucket!
My good friend Tina emailed me a couple weeks ago letting me know that their basement flooded and they had to gut the whole thing and start over. What terrible news, right? WRONG! Now they get to start from scratch on the insurance company’s dime!
I am just beginning to work on this project which will include two large rooms and a bathroom. Next week we are going to sit down and talk colors, swatches, etc, but I couldn’t help but put together a bathroom mood board to help show how drastically we can change their existing decor.
Since Tina and her daughter Scarlett are glam-girls, I wanted to go with something that felt posh and luxurious. But we can’t forget the dudes of the house (Ryan and their little tot Tate) so I added some earthy, masculine towels and a clean, modern sink to help keep the room a little more gender neutral.
This may all change as we get further in the process, but I thought I’d share where we’re at so far!
(1) HW Jealous Walls Wallpaper, (2) Vessels Lavatory, (3) 4pc Hand Towel Set, (4) Shea Butter Lotion, (5) Alphabet Hooks, (6) Versaille Rug Blue – Bathmat, (7) Swissco Tortoiseshell Toothbrush, (8) Hex Gloss Bisquit Tile
Ladies and Gents, we are ONE DAY AWAY from stuffing our faces! You know what this means… lots-o-time in the kitchen.
This year, Jack and I are hosting Turkey Day at our pad. My parents are coming from Wisco, along with my sissie, Jack’s bro (+ kiddies), and our good friend Michelle. There will be lots of loafing around, football (yawn), Bananagrams, Catchphrase, wine and…. MASHIES! While my mum is bring a lot of dishes that she made in advance, we’ve got a fair share of cooking ahead of us as well.
Since our kitchen was apparently built for a family of garden gnomes, there will be a lot of bumpin’ butts as we try to combine efforts and make Martha’s brussel sprouts, a 17lb bird and… um, MASHIES!
Anyhoo, in honor of Thanksgiving and all of the good eats that will be had, here are some adorable kitchens I’ve come across.
Nothing ties a room together like a pet. I came across Pets On Furniture, a weekly feature on Desire to Inspire, a few months ago and had vowed to make a Monday morning ritual out of sipping coffee and ogling the fuzzy friends. Somehow, the site totally escaped me and I forgot all about it.
Well the collection of pixel-packed pet pics managed to find me once again! And now I am late for work because I can’t stop scrolling through the archives. Here are a few of my faves… not only because the animals are adorable but because the rooms have great style too.
Happy Tuesday! Actually it’s more like a Thursday since tomorrow is like a Friday and Thursday is like a Saturday… so Happy Thursday!
Today is a happy day. There’s a whole lotta right going on with today.
First off, we have a fluffy white blanket of snow outside. The first snow always puts me in an awesome mood. Second, it’s a short week. And not just any ol’ short week. This is the week I make it a point to stuff myself with mashies (of the potato variety) until the only thing that could get me to move would be a litter of goldendoodle puppies playing across the room. Oh, gosh. I almost forgot! Today is the day our house is featured on Design*Sponge.
I’m playing it very cool right now. My inner self is weeing her pants. I’ve been working so hard on our house this past year and am so honored that D*S decided to do a sneak peak on our little abode.
In honor of this happy day, I’ve put together a mix of happy home pieces. The level of happy I am today is the level of happy you would be if you were sitting in this ginormous gold hand watching Fantastic Mr. Fox while animated birdies flew around your head and ate from that mod feeder. That’s pretty damn happy.
In social networking news, CMC is finally on Facebook. Do me a solid and click “like” over there on the right side, won’t you?
(1) Fantastic Mr. Fox Poster, (2) Bird Feeder, (3) Animal Sculpture, (4) Round Velvet Pintuck Pillow, (5) Hand Chair, (6) Bean Bag
I’m somewhat obsessed with pretty smelling lotions and potions that are bottled in well designed packages. A bright bottle of hand soap set atop a white pedestal sink can be the only accessory your bathroom needs (except for, um, a stack of fluffy towels, a fun graphic bathmat, jars of pretty lotion and an earthy, organic body brush… whatever that is).
Seriously though, can you imagine an all-white bathroom with a white claw-foot tub, old-school white floor tile and the mix of goodies below? I CAN! It would look splendidly fresh and clean and as a bonus you would have well moisturized skin, silky smooth hair and smell as fresh as a daisy.
Speaking of showers, I haven’t had one in over 48 hours as I’ve been loafing around my parents’ cabin all weekend. Perhaps it’s time to get cleaned up.
(1) Cowshed Grumpy Cow Uplifting Body Lotion, (2) The Moby Mat by Thomas Paul, (3) Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Repairative Hair Pak, (4) Acca Kappy Body Brush, (5) Thomas Paul Sea Life Hand Towels Set, (6) La Compagnie De Provence Verbena, (7) Imbari Towels In Grey
So here’s how I see this going down. First, you all pool together some coin and buy me a little cabin on a secluded lake somewhere. Second, I deck it out in some rustic yet chic decor. Third, I have you all over for some stiff hot toddies and a Catchphrase tourney. Eh? Eh!? Yeah! Sounds like a plan!
Winter is upon us, my friends. And I couldn’t be happier. Sure, it’s a bit depressing to leave work only to step out into a dark abyss at 5:01pm, but think of all the great things about the chilly weather. Are you cozied up in your PJs by 6pm to eat dinner in front of the boob tube in SUMMER? I didn’t think so. Do you venture up to the cabin to sit by a roaring fire and watch classic movies like Mr. Mom and Overboard when it’s 80 degrees and sunny out? Huh?… See? Winter rules.
I’m heading up north to my parents’ cabin this weekend and am clearly excited by the idea of burrowing into their 1890s log cabin for a solid 72 hours. My weekend adventure has me thinking of how I would decorate a cabin if you guys would just kick in some moola and buy me one. The pieces below would make for a warm + cozy yet fresh + clean weekend retreat. Oh how I’d love to kick back on that posh sofa and watch Felicity re-runs on a snowy Saturday afternoon…
(1) Paper Mache Stag, (2) Niche Bedding & Living Spade Boudoir Pillow, (3) Lightbulb Candlestick Holder, (4) Poodle Pillow, (5) Todd Hase Sophia Sofa, (6) Cindy Table Lamp, (7) Churro Saddle Blanket
Oh well for crying out loud. Would you look at this place!?
It’s always a happy day when I get to search for interior shots while on the clock. Today at work I was searching for a white, neutral room for a Target Home project I’m working on. When I found this first image below, I maaaay have gotten a wee bit side tracked for a moment…
The idea of hanging big fluffy down pillows above a bed is so simple yet looks so graphic and unique! And the little birdie house off to the side is a cute, unexpected touch.
Moving on, we have this gem of a room. What perfect light to kick back and work on figure drawings of… say, your goldendoodle.
Stacks of books serving as table legs = genius.
What a charming little nook. I love the rustic, quirky pendant light and I can smell the bright green bar of soap from here. The ballet slippers would come in handy if you wanted to put on some tunes and dance around with… perhaps your goldendoodle.
Love it. The mannequin draped in weird blue cord looks like it’s straight out of an Anthropologie window display.
Well I think it’s safe to say that this homeowner scores a 6 out of 6. Bonus points for the little neon green candle holder which is the perfect pop in such a neutral space. Now friends, I have a favor to ask. Well, well, well. Where has this little gem of a site been hiding all my life?! I searched for MONTHS to find the right wallpaper for our bathroom and never once stumbled across this wonderful world of endless options.
I was lucky enough to have the talented Miss Sally of LaVie Photography come shoot our home a couple of weeks ago (images coming soon!) and we started chatting wallpaper, as broads tend to do. She recommended I check out DesignYourWalls.com as she recently found a stellar print for her studio on their site. To think of all the time and energy I would have saved had I heard of this source a few months ago. They have amazing prints in a huge variety of scales and colors. Below are my faves that I will keep in mind for the next time we wallpaper!
